Membership

The Huron Historical Society is a 501 c (3) non-profit organization whose mission is to “acquire, preserve, study, maintain and exhibit historical documents, photographs and other materials relating to the history and progress of the Huron and Huron Township community.”

The organization was established in March 1981 by a group of area residents dedicated to preserving the history of Huron and Huron Township. The society leases space from the Huron Public Library on the lower level of the building.

Members and visitors can conduct research in the society’s office and programs of historical significance to Huron and Huron Township are offered several times a year. Our annual membership meeting is held in the summer.

To encourage interest in history, we offer a scholarship each year to a Huron High School graduating senior.

We are funded through memberships, donations and grants. If you would like to help us preserve Huron’s history, please consider becoming a member today.
