Huron Time Capsule

BECOME A PART OF HISTORY
with Huron’s Bicentennial Time Capsule!

As the final commemoration of Huron’s Bicentennial, a time capsule will be buried near the Boat Basin Building this fall. The capsule is being crafted by Janotta and Herner Inc., Monroeville, as a gift to the city. Constructed of stainless steel to provide long-term protection for the items placed in the capsule, the box will be welded and sealed to withstand the effects of being underground for a century.

You have the unique opportunity to purchase for $15 a brass plate engraved with your family and/or business name, or a phrase or comment that will be attached to the outside of the box. There is room for 114 plates. The plates will serve as a historical record of the families and businesses that comprise Huron today.

In addition, the Huron Bicentennial Committee and the Huron Historical Society are now seeking suggestions for items that will represent what living in Huron is like as the community begins its third century. Items should reflect the bicentennial theme of "Lake, River, Land and Life." A granite marker engraved with the bicentennial logo will be placed over the capsule, and will be dedicated in October.

If you would like to participate in the time capsule project please complete the enclosed form and return to the Huron Historical Society by September 20, 2010. If you have any questions please call Kathy Muehlhauser Moore at 419-602-1464. We hope you will join us in this unique project. Thanks for your continued support of the Huron Historical Society.
